Biodiesel production
Definition - "Biodiesel"
Biodiesel ist a fuel with similar properties as diesel fuel. In contrast to diesel fuel biodiesel is not extracted from crude oil but from vegetable oils or adipose, so that it is a regenerative energy source.
Biodiesel - Facts
-
Biodiesel is no dangerous good
-
Lower costs of production
-
Political and economic autonomy by own biodiesel production
-
Biodiesel is produced of renewable primary products
-
Biodiesel production is as far as possible sulphur-free (< 0,001 %)
Functional principle
For the manufacture the vegetable oil (e.g. rape oil) is mixed with methnol and several catalysts. Afterwards the ester bonds of the vegetable oil-triglyceride are separated and the fatty acids esterified with the methanol. Thereby the end product shows a clearly lower viscosity than the original vegetable oil. In a further step the contained glycerin is separated from the biodiesel.
Units for Biodiesel production
Units for Biodiesel production can be operated local, that is to say firsthand at the operator`s production facility. They are affected by consolidated construction and already economic at yearly requirement of 300t (or more). |
